My father said I am still a legend – Davido says after Grammy loss

Renowned Nigerian Afrobeats artist Davido has expressed his pride in being nominated for the recently concluded 66th edition of the Grammy Awards.

Despite being a first-time Grammy nominee, Davido did not win in any of the three categories he was nominated for, joining other Nigerian nominees who also missed out on the awards.

During his latest interview with Rolling Stone, Davido reflected on his journey to stardom. Despite the disappointment of not winning, he shared that his father reassured him of his legendary status.

“Being nominated alone is enough to make me proud of myself. I just want my song to be heard on the radio once or twice in the beginning, but for it to transcend to this is just amazing and God’s doing.

“I was on the phone with my dad yesterday and he was like ‘Son no matter what happens, you are still a legend’. So yeah, he is a big fan,” he said.
