ASUU does not care about the challenges facing the country – Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed disappointment with the Academic Staff Union of Universities over their persistent strike.
According to the president, the union has failed to consider the challenges facing the country.
Speaking during his meeting with the 36 state governors in the presidential villa on Tuesday, he said he is amazed that the union will stay out of classroom for this long. He further called for the need for the elites to understand the challenges facing the country.
A statement released by his media aide, Garba Shehu, after the meeting, quoted the President as saying;
“Lecturers had not taken into consideration the larger challenges facing the country.
Government conceded something. The problem is that they refused to look at the problem of the whole country.
The Minister of Labour is working hard at it. It is amazing how ASUU will stay out of classrooms for so long. There’s a need for our elites to understand the challenges facing the country”
That is true but you politicians too are to blame because of your corruption practices…..

The agreement that you made since 2009 and up till now you have not fufil half of the promises and you want them to believe the present, where are they doing such?
Why don’t you ashamed of your government because you are unable to reach compromise with them, do you want them to go back to class in an empty stomach? This is not done.
Don’t be surprised at all, what you need is to settle it amicably. If they do it or agree with you out of pity another issue will still come out.
You are talking about the challenges we are facing in the country despite that the salary those politicians do not reduce but you want the lecturers to go and teach on empty stomach.
